BEV share of Thailand new passenger car sales
~13-15% (2024)
Battery electric vehicles climbed from a negligible share in 2021 to roughly 13-15% of new passenger car registrations in 2024, per Department of Land Transport (DLT) registration data and FTI tracking. The acceleration was driven by the BOI EV3.0 incentive package (2022-2023) and the EV3.5 successor (2024-2027), which subsidise import duty and excise tax in exchange for local production commitments. BYD, MG (SAIC), GWM (Great Wall Motors), Neta, and Tesla led the BEV mix in 2024. Hybrid (HEV) penetration is materially higher.
