Chinese tourist arrivals to Thailand (2019-2024)
~6.73M (2024)
Chinese visitors numbered approximately 6.73 million in 2024 per MOTS, recovering to about 60% of the 2019 record of 10.99M. The mutual visa-free policy effective March 2024 accelerated the rebound. China lost meaningful share to Malaysia and India relative to pre-COVID composition; cost-conscious mass-market group tours have been slower to return than free independent travellers (FIT). 2025 H1 is tracking flat to slightly below 2024 on safety concerns and outbound competition from Japan and Vietnam.
