Thailand welcomed approximately 35.5 million international tourist arrivals in 2024 per the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, recovering to roughly 89% of the pre-pandemic 2019 record of 39.92M. The 2020 collapse to 6.7M and the 2021 trough at 0.4M reflected closed borders; the Phuket Sandbox (July 2021) and full reopening (October 2022) drove the recovery. 2025 is tracking on a 37-39M arrivals trajectory per TAT, with China, Malaysia, India, South Korea, and Russia as the top source markets.
