Thailand's total wellness economy reached approximately USD 42.7 billion in 2024 per the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) February 2026 country rankings update, up from USD 38.8 billion in 2023 and a COVID trough of roughly USD 26-28 billion in 2020. Thailand ranks 24th globally and 9th in Asia-Pacific, with 10.1% year-on-year growth between 2023 and 2024 (7th-fastest among GWI's top 25). The 11 wellness sub-sectors include spas, wellness tourism, physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, traditional and complementary medicine, and wellness real estate. The 2020 pandemic dip was particularly sharp in the wellness tourism and spa sub-sectors before a strong rebound from 2022 onwards.
