Thailand soybean and soybean meal imports (2020-2024)

~4.2M tonnes (2024)

As of2020-2024 (Thai Customs)·Sources4·Primary·Historical series (5 points)

Thailand imported approximately 4.2 million tonnes of soybeans (HS 1201) and soybean meal (HS 2304) combined in 2024 per Thai Customs trade data, OAE livestock-sector tracking, and TFMA procurement reports. Brazil, the United States, and Argentina are the dominant origins on the soybean side; India and Argentina lead soybean meal supply. Soybean meal is the workhorse protein concentrate for poultry and swine compound feed, contributing 18-24% protein content versus the ~8-9% baseline from cassava and corn. Import volume tracks closely with Thailand's compound feed output growth and was modestly elevated in 2024 as swine herd reconstitution lifted demand after 2021-2023 ASF rebalancing.
