Thailand coconut production volume (2020-2024)

~700 kt (2024)

As of2020-2024 (OAE series)·Sources3·Primary·Historical series (5 points)

Thailand produced roughly 700,000 tonnes of coconuts in 2024 per Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives series, down from approximately 820,000 tonnes in 2020. The structural decline reflects ageing palm stands in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, and Surat Thani, conversion to higher-margin crops (durian, palm oil), and pest damage from the coconut hispine beetle and rhinoceros beetle. The 2024 El Nino drought further depressed yields by an estimated 8-12% year-on-year. Despite tonnage decline, value-added processing (coconut water, milk, charcoal, coir) has grown export receipts faster than raw nut output has shrunk.
