Banpu Group offshore coal production (Indonesia and Australia)

~37 Mt (2024)

As ofFY2020-FY2024Β·Sources3Β·PrimaryΒ·Historical series (5 points)

Banpu Plc (SET:BANPU), Thailand's largest mining group, produced approximately 37 million tonnes of saleable coal in 2024 from its Indonesian (Indo Tambangraya Megah, ITM) and Australian (Centennial Coal) subsidiaries β€” almost entirely outside Thailand. Thailand's domestic Mae Moh lignite operation, run by EGAT not Banpu, supplies the Mae Moh power station. Banpu's offshore coal volumes peaked at ~42Mt in 2018, eased through the energy transition pivot, and stabilised in the mid-30s through 2024 as the group reallocates capex toward natural gas (Barnett, Texas), renewables (BCPG, Banpu NEXT), and battery storage. Annual reports detail per-asset volumes and benchmark realisations.

What not to do with it

Values in million tonnes saleable coal. Banpu's Thai-domestic mining footprint is negligible; the offshore series is the group production headline.
