The Bank of Thailand (BoT) granted three virtual bank licences in June 2025: the Krungthai-Gulf-Advanced Info Service (AIS)-OR consortium (CLICX), the SCBX-KakaoBank-WeBank consortium, and the Ascend Money-Charoen Pokphand-Ant Group consortium. Each licensee must launch full retail operations within one year of the licence grant, with target commercial launch dates falling between Q2 and Q4 2026. Each must meet a minimum registered capital of THB 5 billion, with paid-up capital scaling toward THB 10 billion in operating phase.
