Programme components
Thai Export Promoter (TEP)
SME export-readiness training
TEP covers a structured 6-12 month export-readiness curriculum for Thai SMEs, covering documentation, logistics, buyer negotiation, and customs compliance. Approximately 500-1,000 SMEs participate annually, targeting agri-food, fashion, and home-decor product categories.
EDGE Programme
High-potential exporter acceleration
EDGE targets already-exporting SMEs with turnover above $289,855, providing intensive market-access coaching for new destinations, co-financing for international trade-show booths, and buyer-matching for THAIFEX, STYLE Bangkok, and Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair.
Trade show support
DITP pavilion management
DITP manages Thai national pavilions at major international fairs including SIAL Paris, Anuga Cologne, Gulfood Dubai, and Food and Hotel Asia. SME participants receive subsidised booth space and logistics coordination, with co-investment from the Ministry of Commerce export-promotion budget.

Watchpoints 2025-2026
US tariff environment
Market-diversification urgency
The 2026 US tariff increases create urgency for Thai SME exporters to diversify away from US-centric supply chains. DITP is expanding TEP and EDGE coverage for Middle East, South Asia, and African market entry as US market-access costs rise.
Digital-trade support
Cross-border e-commerce
DITP is piloting a cross-border e-commerce track within the EDGE programme, helping Thai SMEs list on Amazon Global Selling, Alibaba International, and Noon (GCC). Digital-export readiness is the fastest-growing demand area among EDGE applicants in 2024-2025.
Budget allocation
DITP promotional spend
DITP's annual trade-promotion budget is approximately $0.116-6 billion. Programme effectiveness reviews are conducted annually; TEP and EDGE return-on-investment calculations (measured by incremental export value per THB spent) will determine 2026 budget allocations.
