Thailand food export via refrigerated container β€” annual volume

~1–1.5M TEU reefer containers/yr

As ofFY2023Β·Sources3Β·Primary

Thailand is one of the world's largest exporters of processed and fresh food, with refrigerated (reefer) container volumes through Laem Chabang and Bangkok ports estimated at 1–1.5 million TEU annually. Key export commodities requiring cold-chain treatment include frozen shrimp, processed tuna (canned tuna exits ambient but raw-material handling is chilled), fresh tropical fruit (durian, longan, mangosteen to China), frozen chicken, and chilled processed pork. The Customs Department and Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) publish reefer-box statistics; the Thai Food Processors Association (TFPA) further disaggregates by product category. Durian exports to China alone have grown to represent a significant and rapidly expanding share of total reefer volume since 2017.
