Thailand eucalyptus plantation area (2020-2024)
~720,000 ha (2024)
Thailand's eucalyptus plantation area expanded from approximately 620,000 hectares in 2020 to roughly 720,000 hectares in 2024 per the Royal Forest Department (RFD) and Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE). The growth was driven by pulp and paper demand (Double A, Phoenix Pulp & Paper, Siam Cement Group), particleboard feedstock (Vanachai Group, Metro Panel), and biomass power plant procurement under the Adder/Feed-in Tariff schemes. Plantations are concentrated in the Northeast (Khon Kaen, Roi Et, Maha Sarakham) and lower North. Approximately 70-75% of the area is held by smallholders on 5-50 rai parcels under contract-farming arrangements with downstream mills.
