Thailand commercial plantation mix by species (2024)

Rubberwood ~58%

As of2024Β·Sources1Β·SupportingΒ·Historical series (5 points)

Thailand's commercial timber plantation mix in 2024 was dominated by rubberwood at approximately 58% (drawn from roughly 3.7 million hectares of total rubber plantation, of which a rolling subset reaches harvestable age), followed by eucalyptus at ~28%, acacia (Acacia mangium and hybrids) at ~7%, teak at ~5%, and other species (Falcataria, pine, indigenous hardwoods) at ~2% per RFD and RAOT estimates. Teak is largely managed by the state-owned Forest Industry Organization (FIO) under a regulated quota framework that maintains a near-monopoly over commercial teak. Eucalyptus and acacia plantations are private and smallholder-led; rubberwood is byproduct from rubber tap-life rotation.
