Thailand LNG supply by source country (2024)

Qatar ~35%

As of2024·Sources1·Supporting·Historical series (7 points)

Thailand's 2024 LNG supply mix was anchored by Qatar (~35% via the long-term Qatargas SPA), Oman (~15%), Australia (~12%), the United States (~12%), Malaysia (~10%), Russia (~6%), and other spot/short-term sources (~10%) per PTT LNG and GIIGNL trade-flow data. Qatari volumes flow under a 20-year sale and purchase agreement signed in 2012 with extensions. US Gulf Coast cargoes have grown materially since 2022 as Cheniere and other Henry Hub-indexed suppliers competed for Asian buyers. Russian volumes are sourced via Yamal LNG cargoes that re-route through Asia after EU sanctions tightened. The diversification reduces single-supplier concentration risk versus 2018 when Qatar accounted for >50% of supply.
